ONE OF FIFTY SITUATIONS
“I struggle to settle after a strong feeling.”
A strong feeling does not need to be finished. It needs a safe pause.
What this can look like
A conversation is becoming heated. The original question was simple, but the exchange now contains interruptions, repeated explanations, and arguments about what somebody really meant. You are preparing another sentence before the other person finishes. In an ordinary disagreement where both people can make choices without intimidation, this is a useful place to notice the conversation itself. The subject may still matter. The current way of discussing it may have stopped helping either person understand it.
Noticing that distinction does not establish who is right. Someone may have a fair complaint and be presenting it badly; someone may sound composed while missing an important point. Volume, confidence, tears, or a polished explanation cannot decide the facts on their own. The narrower question is whether the next exchange is likely to add usable information. You can ask that question without diagnosing either person or explaining the reaction through a story about their past.
